QMS at QPM

On September 12th. eight members of QMS (plus two prospective members) attended a presentation hosted by Quinte Plastic Modellers. Guest speaker Richard Wright gave us an interesting history-based talk about the German Navy in WWII. His focus was the Bismarck, of which he had a model, made by Hans, a survivor of the sinking, and later a POW in Northern Ontario. It is a well-crafted scale model, and well detailed given the materials he had available. It was rumoured that the POWs had obtained a crystal from one of the guards and built a radio to listen to German broadcasts. The radio was supposed to have been hidden in the model, and Richard noted that he intended to get it X-rayed, in order to prove this, or not. Altogether, an enjoyable evening spent with fellow hobbyists.
