Kitchen Rudder Test Video
This test video shows a mock-up of a model kitchen rudder. The wood boards open and close at the base of the rudder post. A servo actuates the boards that simulate the action of the shells on a real kitchen rudder which provide fore/aft drive without reversing prop rotation. A second servo (not shown) would replace the hand movement, to give Pt/Stbd steering. The distance between the marker lines on the rear support is 6 inches. Plans are in the works to use this type of rudder on a Bantam Tug.
